Covering 64 acres, this former Dairy Farm converted to beef production in 2000.  This was forced upon us by the poor returns in milk production and the SHALAMA herd of pedigree Holsteins was dispersed.

The SHALAMA herd of pedigree Holsteins was established in 1983 and during the next 17 years was included in the top 5% of national herd of breeders.

The SHALAMA herd of pedigree Holsteins, with the help of our daughters, won every young stock competition in the country and also achieved the highest yielding cow at the Dairy Event and had champions at the Royal Bath and West show, Devon County show and the Royal show.

In years gone by this former dairy farm milked cows and sold surplus milk for bottling and also to produce cheese.  Encompassed within that a pig herd would have utilized the surplus whey from the cheese production and probably 200 pigs would have been kept on the farm at any one time employing a great number of staff for milking the cows, managing the pigs and tilling the land.

Jasmine Cottage and Plumtree Cottage built around 1830 were originally three cottages which would have housed three families.  Each family would have at least 6 children and some up to 13 children in one cottage.
The Lodge and The Stable were originally a cart shed and stabling for the working horses.

Dairy House Farm was one of four farms in the parish of Woolland which would have been approximately 1000 acres.

The lord of the manor lived in Woolland House and owned all of the parish.  Woolland House was knocked down in 1967 and the now Woolland House was originally the stabling for the horses.

The famous sculptor Dame Elisabeth Frink lived for many years in Woolland House until her death in 1993 and sculptures can been seen within the grounds and also in Sturminster Newton, Sherborne and the famous sculpture of the Dorset Martyrs is placed in Dorchester.
